Je t’aime St. Barth’s!

Oh St. Barth’s, I thought crushes were only for school girls but you proved that theory wrong!  You had had me at “Welcome to Gustavia”.  Even a months later,  I still cannot get you off my mind.  Full of surprises, beauty and sophistication, you are something special. With your luxury properties, gorgeous beaches and exquisite food, you are fun and fabulous wrapped in Caribbean blue.

Spending a weekend in St. Barth’s may be the highlight of my Summer 2015.  My husband and I escaped our daily lives, left the kids, dog and hamster with friends and headed to this luxurious island.   Some may consider it a nail biter flying in to an uber short runway with steep decent over a busy road, but it was a thrill!

First stop was Le Guanahani, a 67 room boutique property resting on it’s own peninsula spanning over 18 acres.  Located at the at the end of Grand Cul-de-Sac, it is a private enclave of colorful cottages hidden among lush garden paths.

For our stay, we enjoyed the luxury of our One Bedroom Ocean Bay Room. Rooms here are private and spacious ranging in size from the 375 sq foot Ocean Bay Rooms to 1500 sq foot 2 and 3 Bedroom Signature suites with plunge pools.  Regardless of the room selected, all of them have additional outdoor terrace and sundecks. For those who wish to indulge, book the Admiral Suite for a 180 degree ocean view over the blue lagoon.

The beach is uber private and the perfect segway for slipping into island life.  I found the stand to be super attentive and friendly.  My glass was never went empty and the aperitifs were delish.

The on property dining was wonderful with a full American buffet presentation daily at Indigo. For a change of scene try Indigo on Beach for a la carte lunch and elegant dining in the evening at Bartolomeo.  Barto’, as it is referred to, has an lovely wine list an the food here is a fresh infusion of Caribbean spices and Mediterranean flavors.Dining at BartolomeoEnjoying dinner at Barto’ with my handsome date!

The beaches at St Barth’s are beautiful and Shell Beach is no exception. It sits just outside Gustavia and is the perfect place for a swim or some lunch and a cold Carib at Do Brazil.
